The confidentiality and discretion of the JuriCarrière service of the Corporation de services du Barreau du Québec (hereinafter the “Corporation”) is governed by this “Confidentiality and Protection of Personal Information Policy”. The Policy is in keeping with R.S.Q., chapter P-39.1: An Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, and describes the practices for collecting, using and disclosing personal information in connection with the activities of the JuriCarrière service. These practices will vary depending upon the type of use of the JuriCarrière service:
Users have the right, at any time, to request and obtain the withdrawal of the information provided by them, whether as candidate, employer or recruitment firm (or to correct such information themselves online) by contacting the Corporation at (514) 954-3445.

For all pages that are publicly accessible, the only information collected is the following, and such information is collected only for statistical purposes in order to improve the JuriCarrière service:
- the name, address, IP address and Internet domain used to access the Web site;
- the type and version of the browser and operating system used;
- the Web site you came from (if you clicked on a link leading to this Web site).
Use of Information regarding a Candidate
To access this service, you must first provide us with your Barreau du Québec membership number and a valid e-mail address. The membership number is checked against the Roll of the Order of the Barreau du Québec to ensure that you are a member in good standing. We also obtain the following information which you may modify only in our records and not in the records of the Roll of the Order:
(To make changes on the Roll of the Order, you must contact the Barreau du Québec by e-mail at the following address: email@example.com)
- family name, given name and gender;
- address for purposes of correspondence;
- telephone number;
- fax number.
You will be asked for the following additional information:
- the languages in which you are fluent (oral and written);
- your training (legal or otherwise);
- your experience (by practice area)
- the type of employment you are seeking (private practice, civil service, etc.);
- the geographical regions in which you would consider working;
- any other request for information which may be added to the Web site.
You may also upload your curriculum vitæ in electronic format.
This information is collected in order to create a candidate’s data sheet which will be presented to a potential employer or to a recruitment firm when you actively apply for a job offered on the JuriCarrière service or passively, if your record matches the search criteria of an employer or a recruitment firm.
You also have the option to make your record into an anonymous record, such that identifying information contained in your data sheet will be withdrawn when the data sheet is presented to a potential employer or to a recruitment firm. The employer or firm will know that you may meet its search criteria, but it will not know your identity. Your identity will be disclosed to the potential employer or to the recruitment firm only after you have authorized the JuriCarrière service to do so.
Finally, you have the option to make your record available or unavailable for a period of three (3) months. The available status is the default status upon registration; it makes you visible to employers and recruitment firms in the JuriCarrière service and allows you to consult the service and to apply for job postings. The unavailable status allows you to keep your record in the system, but makes it invisible to employers and recruitment firms. Thus, even if your record meets the search criteria of an employer or recruitment firm, you will not appear, even anonymously, in the lists obtained by the potential employer or the recruitment firm. You will still be able to consult job postings, without applying therefor.
The information collected will be accessible at all times to the administrators the JuriCarrière service. Your record will be kept as long as you update it. An optional e-mail reminder service is available. If your file is not updated for a period of three months, the identifying information will be destroyed. The Corporation may also contact candidates by e-mail or by regular mail to inform them of changes, additions or modifications to the JuriCarrière service.
Use of Information regarding an Employer or a Recruitment Firm

- the family name, given name and gender of a contact person;
- the address of the business;
- the telephone and fax numbers.
This information will be accessible at all times to the directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents of the JuriCarrière service. It will be visible to registered candidates only when an employer or recruitment firm posts a job offering on the bulletin board; otherwise the information will not be publicly available.
Data on employers and recruitment firms may be destroyed by making a request to the directors, officers, employees, representatives or agents of the JuriCarrière service; otherwise the data will be saved for the period deemed appropriate by the Corporation.
