Cox & Palmer is currently in search of an Associate to join their award-winning team in one of the following locations: Moncton, Fredericton, or Saint John. As an Associate at Cox & Palmer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality legal counsel to a diverse clientele across Atlantic Canada. Your responsibilities will encompass managing case files assigned by the firm's partners, collaborating with a cohesive team, and contributing to community leadership initiatives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn and collaborate with experienced Partners, help expand the practice, and enrich your contributions to the firm and the community it serves. Leverage your litigation and defense experience to provide exceptional legal representation, strategically guiding and advocating for clients throughout various legal proceedings. You will adeptly navigate case management, handling a diverse caseload from inception to resolution and showcasing your abilities in prioritization, litigation, and execution. Strive for excellence by demonstrating your unwavering commitment to delivering quality legal services within established timelines. You can think quickly and execute effective solutions in a fast-paced environment. Your leadership qualities will shine as you mentor junior associates, offering guidance and setting an example in legal strategies and professional conduct. Additionally, your strong writing skills will be put to the test as you craft clear, persuasive legal documents, memos, and correspondence that significantly contribute to the firm's success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize and expand on your litigation and defence experience to provide exceptional legal representation, strategically guiding and advocating for clients.
  • Adeptly navigate case management, handling a diverse caseload from inception to resolution, and showcase your abilities in prioritization, litigation, and execution.
  • Strive for excellence by demonstrating your unwavering commitment to delivering quality legal services within established timelines.
  • Conduct research on case law and understand the law in New Brunswick, legal cases, and proceedings.
  • Grow your practice and help the firm grow through community involvement, engagement, and bringing on new clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and opposing parties.
  • Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English & French (an asset)
  • Three to five (3-5) years of working experience as an Associate
  • Must be a member in good standing of a provincial bar and eligible for membership in the New Brunswick Barrister’s Society.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Highly organized and time efficient.
  • Ability to handle multiple case files simultaneously.
