Job description

SRAADD – Regional Solidarity for Assistance and Advocacy in the Defense of Mental Health Rights is seeking a lawyer to join its team.

Your role:

As a General Practice Lawyer, you will practice in various areas of law (civil, family, administrative, etc.) depending on the needs of the clientele. You will be responsible for the full management of files, from the initial consultation to representation before the courts.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide legal consultations in various areas of law.
  • Draft legal opinions, contracts, legal proceedings, demand letters, etc.
  • Represent clients before civil, administrative, or other tribunals.
  • Support and advise vulnerable clients.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, ethical, and compassionate relationship with clients.

Working Conditions:

  • Permanent position – 35 hours/week.
  • Salary to be discussed.
  • In-person position at the Trois-Rivières office.
  • Base salary with additional compensation related to legal aid mandates.

Candidate description

Desired Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Professional autonomy (no legal assistant support).
  • Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Interest in community work and working with a mental health clientele.
  • Strong sense of ethics, confidentiality, and listening skills.
  • Ability to manage several files simultaneously.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French.
